MBITC27 – Rules
- The Michel Becquet International Trombone Competition is open to trombonists of all nationalities.
- The competition is open to candidates born after 1993.
- Registration for the competition includes a video preliminary round.

VIDEO REQUIREMENTS:
- Recording: Cavatine – Camille Saint-Saëns / Durand
edition
- The video must be recorded in a single take, without any cuts.
- The video can be recorded with or without accompaniment.
- Use of a timer (smartphone, tablet, watch, stopwatch, etc.) is mandatory.*
- The timer must be clearly visible in the video frame and started just before the performance and stopped immediately after, to prove that the recording was made without any cuts or editing.
- A jury will select and validate the submitted videos.
- All competition rounds will be open to the public free of charge.
- The jury will be composed of internationally renowned trombonists.
- Jury decisions are final and without appeal.
- Travel and accommodation expenses are the responsibility of the candidate.
- MBITC27 reserves the rights to broadcast the competition rounds on radio, television, and the Internet, without any remuneration to
the candidates.

- Each candidate must attach the following to the registration form:
- The video of Cavatine – Camille
Saint-Saëns
- A copy of an identity document
- A photo
- A brief curriculum vitae

The registration fee will be refunded in case of NON-selection.
The registration deadline is October 30, 2026 (postmark as proof).

PRIZES:
- 1st Prize: €8,000
- 2nd Prize: €4,000
- 3rd Prize: €2,000
Prizes are indivisible.
- The competition jury has sole authority to resolve any disputes. Its decisions are final, without appeal, and do not need to be
justified. In case of a tie, the vote of the jury president prevails.
- Accompaniment:
Candidates may use one of the competition accompanists (free of charge) or come with their own accompanist.
- MBITC27 reserves the right to modify these rules in the interest of the competition.
- Registration for the competition implies full and unconditional acceptance of these rules. By submitting their application,
candidates consent, in accordance with French law D.L. 30.06.2003, n°196, to the use of their personal data for the organization and artistic promotion of the competition.
- Artistic Director Robin Rinchard
will assist the jury but will have no voting rights.
- Jury members may not vote for candidates who are currently their direct students enrolled in their courses.
- During all competition rounds, candidates must be reachable at all times and are requested to inform the secretariat promptly of
any changes, otherwise they may not be allowed to participate.
