REGLEMENT :

1/ The Michel Becquet International Trombone Competition is open to trombonists of all nationalities.
2/ The competition is open to applicants born after 1994.
3/ Registration for the competition includes a video preliminary round.
4/ The video must be submitted before October 15, 2026.

 

THE VIDEO:

  • A) Recording: Aria and Polonaise by Joseph Jongen / ANDEL edition
  • B) It must be filmed in one single take, with no cuts whatsoever.
  • C) The video may be recorded with or without accompaniment.
  • D) A timer (mobile phone, tablet, watch, stopwatch, etc.) is mandatory.
  • The timer must be clearly visible in the video frame. It must be started just before and stopped after the recording to demonstrate that the video was recorded without any cuts or editing.
  • E) A jury will select and validate the candidates’ video submissions.

5/ All competition rounds will be open to the public free of charge.
6/ The jury will consist of internationally renowned trombonists.
7/ The jury’s decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
8/ Travel and accommodation expenses are the responsibility of the candidate.
9/ MBITC27 reserves the rights for radio, television, and internet broadcasting of the competition rounds without remuneration to the candidates.


10/ Candidates must register before October 15, 2026: REGISTER HERE!
Each candidate must attach to the registration form:

  • A) The video
  • B) A copy of an identification document
  • C) A photograph
  • D) A brief curriculum vitae

  • The registration fees are non-refundable.
  • The registration deadline is October 15, 2026, as evidenced by the postmark.

11/ PRIZES:

  • First Prize: €8,000.00
  • Second Prize: €4,000.00
  • Third Prize: €2,000.00

Prizes are not divisible.


12/ The competition jury is the sole authority to resolve any disputes. Its decisions are final, not subject to appeal, and need not be justified. In the event of a tie, the President of the Jury shall have the casting vote.


13/ Accompaniment conditions:
Candidates may use one of the competition’s accompanists (free of charge) or may bring their own accompanist.


14/ The Michel Becquet International Trombone Competition reserves the right to amend these regulations in the interest of the competition.


15/ Registration for the competition implies full and unconditional acceptance of these regulations. By submitting the registration application, candidates give their consent, in accordance with Law D.L. 30.06.2003, No. 196, to the use of their personal data for the purposes of conducting the competition and its related artistic promotion.


16/ The Artistic Director (Robin Rinchard) will assist the jury but shall have no voting rights.


17/ Jury members may not vote for candidates who are currently their direct students enrolled in their courses.


18/ During all competition rounds, candidates must be reachable at all times and are requested to inform the secretariat in good time of any changes, failing which they may be unable to participate in the competition.
